Abstract
Abalone (H. Squamata), belong to the class Gastropod and abalone species has been successfully cultured in Indonesia. Location for enlargement abalone, usually located far away from the hatchery, so require transportation to the location of enlargement abalone. Abalone H. squamata can survive even if there is no water in breaks time. The purpose of this trial is to determine a suitable method of transportation for abalone in the life conditions and can result in a high survival rate. Juvenile abalone from the hatchery were placed in a PVC pipe with diameter 3 inch and put in a plastic bag, then filled in pure oxygen into the plastic bag and put in a Styrofoam box with a temperature range of 24.5 to 27.0ÂșC. The results of trials of abalone seed transport with dry systems indicate that survival is high. Seed abalone with shell length 1.0-1.5 cm; 2.0-3.0 cm and 4.0-5.0 cm with an each density of 2,000; 750, and 500 ind./bag, transportation for 6-14 hours, showed that survival of 100% respectively, while abalone shell length > 5 cm with a density of 250 ind./bag showed survival rate were 93.5%. Transportation juvenile abalone with wet system using a live tank, and the shell length of 2-3 cm, during 6-6.5 hours, showed that survival rate of 100%.
