The utilization optimization of Sidenreng Lake waters, which is becoming swallower from day to day, as a primary fish-derived protein sources for people living around it is important to implement. The objective of this study was to find out the feasibility of Sidenreng Lake waters as an aquaculture medium. Steps involved in this study included observation, primary and secondary data collection, data processing and analysis. Primary data were obtained from direct interview with stakeholders (with the help of questionnaire) and the water quality analysis results at three stations: station A representing the low populated area; station B representing the central of the lake, and station C representing the densely populated area. Secondary data were obtained from Fishery and Husbandry Department Office of Sidenreng Rappang Regency, website of Sidenreng Rappang Regency, Statistical Office, and research reports. The measured parameters included physical and chemical parameters. Study results indicated that the station C was less feasible for aquaculture, whereas the station B and C were feasible for aquaculture. Fish cultivation with basic cages was still feasible to do, whereas the cultivation with floating net cages was not feasible due to the one meter average depth. In addition, the fish living on the bottom and mud were still feasible to rear in Sidenreng Lake waters, whereas the shrimps was not feasible to cultivate due to the high turbidity above the normal range.
